The Carolina Panthers are taking it slow with one of their young, talented wide receivers.
First-rounder Xavier Legette is currently being held out of practice as a precaution, according to head coach Dave Canales.
“He just kind of looked a little bit stoved up yesterday, and we just, as a precaution, said we need to pull back a bit and just make sure we’re smart with this,” Canales told the Carolina media (via Sheena Quick).

This is a wise call by the first-year head coach and Co.
After all, it isn’t even officially summer yet.
Why risk the health of a young player by pushing him in meaningless workouts and practices?
Legette was one of the best overall players in the country last season while at South Carolina.
The No. 32 overall pick was an All-SEC performer last season after posting fantastic numbers.
He recorded 1,255 total yards and 7 touchdowns, along with 71 receptions.
The South Carolina native is one of the more complete rookies in the league.
He is a bigger receiver standing at 6-3 and weighing roughly 220 pounds.
However, he also has 4.3 speed, which could be game-changing.
Another great, do-it-all player that also came from South Carolina is 49ers All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel.
He was another speedy and bruising pass-catcher that took the league by storm.
With Canales being an offensive-minded head coach, Legette has a bright future set up for himself on his childhood team.
Look for the young stud to become a star immediately, especially if he continues to stay healthy while in the lineup.
